Addressing a large audience
VS
Addressing a smaller audience
In the coming year, you might find yourself addressing a much larger audience than you're used to, perhaps several hundred people.
This situation may arise, and it's essential to be prepared for the challenge of speaking on stage to a larger crowd.
How will you begin your speech? What will you do and say to set the tone?
You cannot approach this scenario with the same casualness you might use when speaking to a small group of 12 to 20 people.
Addressing a larger audience requires a certain level of authority and gravitas from the speaker.
Here are some steps you can take:
1. Walk calmly and confidently to the designated spot on stage.
2. Once you arrive, pause for about five seconds to allow complete silence to settle among the audience.
3. Begin your speech with your opening sentence, using the appropriate tone. You
can deliver this with a smile or in a more serious manner, depending on
the context.
Wishing you clarity and outstanding performances in the year ahead !
