How to conclude a speech or a presentation ?
Many presenters tend not to pay enough attention at the way to conclude
their message. It is regrettable because for some reasons, the last
moments of your delivery are likely to be what the audience members will
remember best.
Therefore, the same level of care applied to shape the introduction and the main body of the speech should also be applied to the conclusion.
My suggestions for a successful conclusion are:
✅ 1) First, always recap very briefly the 2 or 3 main points of your presentation
✅ 2) Then, propose a simple call to action in order to involve your audience. People like to get involved in doing something.
✅ 3) Mention extremely briefly a coming project of yours relevant to
your topic that may be of interest to your audience, but keep it
extremely succinct.
This will generate additional interest into what you are doing now.
✅ 4) As a very last sentence, formulate a question relevant to your
current project. This question is to serve as a bridge for a further
talk at a later date.
You can see that this strategy to conclude a speech has the intention of sustaining interest beyond what is done
today in opening a window on the coming future.
This demonstrates passion and professionalism into what you are doing now.
